About

Mary and the MDs began on the evening

of July 4th, 2011 after a barbecue on the

tranquil Kramer bayou of Tarpon

Springs, Florida.

Mary Broccard (Medical Social Worker), Jack Rashkin

(Pulmonologist). and Jose Ramon Roca (Cardiologist) entertained

the comfortable group of friends with their musical talents.  Mary’s

smooth vocals complimented Jack’s warm acoustic guitar as “Roca”

kept the beat with his Congas.  It was immediately apparent that

this unrehearsed jam session was special.  Soon after,  Gordon

Goodman (Radiologist) with his superb keyboard and Edgar Miranda

(Oncologist) with his bass guitar joined the then unnamed band.

The band practiced Wednesday nights at Jack’s home office, also

known as “Jack’s Guitar Lounge.”  Mary’s fiance, Jose G. Torres

(Internal Medicine) filmed and edited video for the band.  It was

Jose who eventually named the band, “Mary and the MDs”.  The

Wednesday night practices continued for almost a year before the

young band was stage ready.  The much anticipated debut

performance of ‘Mary and the MDs’ commenced at Mary and Jose’s

home on Kramer bayou where the magic began a year earlier.

As the band matured it was realized that a drummer would add the finishing touch and Jeff Skeim (Medical Professional rep) joined the band.
